Weather service calls fire danger high

Telegraph logoThe National Weather Service has issued a special statement saying that the danger of fires getting out of control is especially high today throughout Vermont.

Low relative humidity is drying fuels such as grass, leaves and twigs and combined with the lack of snow cover and high winds today, any fire that’s started could spread quickly.

Local regulations require permits to conduct open burns. Call your local fire warden before starting a fire.  Vermont’s Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation has a website that shows the level of fire danger throughout the state, but you must obtain a burn permit locally.
