The Green Mountain Cheftains recently came home from the statewide competition winners in the Local Lively category for utilizing at least five local ingredients in the recipe they prepared. Every year after the competition, six teams are chosen to prepare their recipe for legislators in the State House Dining Room.

The team and their Coach Christine Anderson traveled to Montpelier on Friday, April 15 and had a great time. They had a tour of the State House and met with local Rep. Leigh Dakin. The team also prepared its recipe and served legislators lunch. Everyone loved the Three Grain Vegetarian Shepherd’s Pie. Steve Pippin covered as assistant coach since I was unable to attend. Pippin was a big help in assisting the team with set-up. The team members are Kaitlin McCoy, Simone Martarano, Alexandria Pippin and Chelsea Rose.

Thanks so much to our coaches and to Green Mountain High for all the hard work and support.

Sincerely,
Jack Carroll
Director Food and Nutritional Services
