Route 7 southbound in Rutland is closed, use alternate routes

Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks are advising drivers to look for alternate routes through Rutland for the next several hours.

According to police, Route 7 Southbound near Alderman’s Chevrolet and Tractor Supply is closed. At about 2:30 p.m. a tractor trailer reportedly took down several electric and utility lines that are now in the road.

In addition to Green Mountain Power and Fair Point Communications, Vermont State Police, Rutland Police, Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles and the Agency of Transportation responded to the accident. A detour will be set up as soon as possible.
