Statewide Amber Alert drill tomorrow

In an advisory released today, the State of Vermont said that on Wednesday Oct. 19 the Department of Public Safety will conduct an Amber Alert drill between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.  The exercise will test components of the state’s Amber Alert system including the VT-Alert system which will send out messages to its subscribers. Wireless Emergency Alert will not be used during the drill.

Alerts will also appear on VTrans message boards as well as Vermont Lottery signs and tickets. In addition, television and radio stations will receive test messages from the Emergency Alert System.

Phone alerts will be sent only to those who have signed up for VT-ALERT. Anyone who wishes to receive Amber Alerts in the future, including the latest up-to-date information at the time of the alert, can register to for a free account at https://users.vtalert.gov.
