To the editor: Brickner has proven track record

I support Ben Brickner for the Vermont Senate because he has a proven track record of carefully doing the detailed and, often thankless, work as Pomfret’s Select Board chair and auditor. Ben is committed to fiscal responsibility and has already walked the walk.

Aware that tax payments are his neighbors’ money, he has worked hard to find efficiencies to cut costs but not services. Seven-plus years serving in local government, along with decades of legal practice, ensures that Ben will catch when proposed laws do not fit conditions on the ground in our local communities.

And Ben has the acumen and skill-set to understand and articulate complex ideas that will help the Senate get to the right answer the first time – halting the trend of enacting and then retracting time-consuming and expensive projects when cold hard reality confronts our loftiest aspirations.

Ben’s legal practice representing the Davids versus Goliaths in the world of finance shows he can go toe to toe with the well-financed industries seeking to enter Vermont, and that he will ensure that these players contribute to – not exploit – our local economies.

Above all, Ben is open-minded, a great listener, and a good neighbor. With his unique skill set and background, I hope you will join me in voting for Ben Brickner in the Democratic primary on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
