Evening of poets at Grafton Library Aug. 25

Join the Grafton Public Library on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for an evening with three Vermont poets, as part of itson-going Neighbor-to-Neighbor Discussion Series.

Brattleboro poet Tim Mayo will read from his latest poetry collection, Muscle Memories of Love and Disaster, exploring grief, loss, mortality, the suffering and hopes of the mentally ill, and the rebirth of falling in love late in life.

Grafton poet Nancy Richardson’s poems concern the politics and personalities of our time. Richardson’s book, An Everyday Thing, about the shootings at Kent State University, was named one the 100 best independent books of 2018 by Kirkus.

And the third voice, known to many in the area, offers this invitation: “Bill Toomey, a Grafton man, has been writing what he thinks is poetry for all his life. But is it? He invites you to judge. Come and listen!”

A Q&A will follow after the readings and signed copies of books will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be served.
