To the editor: Wilder Library Trustees thank community for support for renovation
The Chester Telegraph | Sep 02, 2026 | Comments 0
After years of planning, hard work, generosity and patience, it was a joy to finally open the doors, cut the ribbon and welcome so many friends, neighbors, families and supporters into our newly renovated and expanded library.
The turnout for the grand opening was truly remarkable. More than 200 people attended to hear music, enjoy ice cream and partake of delicious cookies and confections donated by local businesses. We are deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to join us and share in this special day. We are also grateful to those organizations who made this event possible including the Weston Volunteer Fire Department, the Vermont Country Store, Gladys Restaurant at the Hub, the Green Cat Café, Grandma Millers and Megan Szkutak.
But our thanks go far beyond those who attended the celebration.
This library would not exist in its new form without the extraordinary support of the Weston community. We thank the residents, second homeowners, donors, volunteers, Town officials, library supporters, local businesses and organizations who contributed their time, ideas, encouragement and financial support throughout this long journey.
The beautiful new building is something to celebrate — but the real excitement begins now.
A library is more than its walls, books and furnishings. It is a place made by the people who walk through its doors. It is a place for children and families, readers and learners, neighbors and newcomers, meetings and conversations, programs and quiet moments. Most of all, it is a place
We are delighted to be able to open our doors not only to the people of Weston, but to all who live in the surrounding towns. To friends old and new, please stop by to say hello, enjoy our new library and get a library card to pick out a new book.
Faye Mack,
Wilder Memorial Library director, and
