VCS celebrates 80th anniversary with Weston Village Fair & Jubilee

The Vermont Country Store will celebrate its 80^th anniversary at the inaugural Weston Village Fair & Jubilee, a new community event featuring old-fashioned food, fun and games for the whole family. 

The Vermont Country Store was founded and established in Weston by Vrest and Mildred Orton in 1946. The store is noted for offering classics like maple syrup, maple candy and Vermont cheese as well as restoring discontinued and hard-to-find brands. The Orton family continues that tradition through its stores in Weston and Rockingham, its catalog and online store, serving generations of customers across the country.

The Fair & Jubilee will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Sept. 12 with a community parade from Walker Farm on Main Street to the Old Parish Church on Lawrence Hill Road.

The afternoon will be filled with classic games, local vendors and crafters, food trucks, a beer tent from Mount Holly Brewery, horse-and-wagon rides, a petting zoo, live music and street dancing on the Village Green.

Everyone is welcome to enter the fair competitions, with categories including floral arrangements, apple desserts, pickled items, chocolate chip cookies and creative kids’ crafts. Admission is free, with tickets available for food and games. Proceeds will benefit the Weston Community Association.

Parking will be available at Walker Farm, 705 Main St., and The Vermont Country Store, 657 Main St.
