To the editor: House candidate Hoser lays out goals

I want to thank all of those who voted for me in the primary election, and if elected as your district representative I pledge to work for Vermonters who are struggling to afford the things that make life livable. I will work to:

•  Make primary medical care available to each person in Vermont.
• Promote and vote for the Vermont legislative initiatives that will support young families’ opportunities to own a home. At the same time, I will work to increase affordable rental housing in Vermont.
• Support education funding that enables small schools to continue to operate in districts while curtailing the high cost of education in the state. This will take an effort to coordinate the provision of some education services through regional planning.
• Explore with other members and committees of the legislature, the means to lower food costs.
• Work to reign in ICE operations in the state and provide continuing support for legal services for detainees in Vermont.

I am optimistic that the United States will right itself and we will work together to begin a new chapter that recognizes the inclusion of diverse populations, strengthens our families, and allows small businesses to thrive in a fair economic environment.
