Black River Walk & Talk on flood awareness on Sunday

To kick off National Flood Awareness Week — Sunday, Sept. 20 through Saturday, Sept. 26 — the Cavendish Historical Society, Black River Action Team and the Dartmouth Rural Rivers Project are teaming up for a program on the history and health of the Black River and what is being to done to help mitigate flooding.
The program begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20 and includes a visit to Greven Field in Proctorsville and a medicinal plant walk with herbalist and medical anthropologist, Dr. Charis Boke, who has an academic appointment at Dartmouth College where she teaches and conducts research.
Meet at 2 p.m. at the Cavendish Historical Society Museum, 1958 Main St. (Route 131) to carpool to Greven Field. This event is free, open to the public and takes place rain or shine. For more information call 802-226-7807 or email margocaulfield@icloud.com.
