Chester Historical Society presents stories of Popple Dungeon

The sign for Popple Dungeon Road gets stolen several times a year, leaving residents of The Dungeon with a gaping hole until the town creates a new one. Popple Dungeon is a curious name for a road and an area of Chester. A comment by a school teacher to her students long ago is credited for the unusual name. A new book series about Popple Dungeon Road is the modern equivalent of Little House on the Prairie.

Stephen S. Rollins, an author who grew up in Chester — in the Dungeon specifically, will reveal some of the true stories behind his books  Unlikely Neighbors in Vermont and Back to Vermont. Please join The Chester Historical Society for this interesting presentation at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Chester Academy Building at 230 Main St in Chester.  This free event is open to all who are curious.
