Social Adult Day Care to kick off in Londonderry

Neighborhood Connections in Londonderry will be opening its new Social Model Adult Day Care Program on Wednesday, Oct. 7, providing breakfast and lunch and offering activities including participatory music, arts and crafts, and games modeled after the Relish curriculum.

In preparation, an Open House will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 for potential clients, partners and interested community members to drop in to meet our staff and see the facility.

This is a free program that emphasizes social activities and does not include medical care. It is appropriate for adults capable of feeding themselves and independent bathroom functions, but who need a safe and supervised space during the day, meals preparation and socialization. Applicants will be screened using standard tools at intake to ensure program compatibility.

The program will be available every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Neighborhood Connections’ main meeting complex in the Mountain Marketplace, at the corner of Routes 11 and 100. This open, airy space includes plenty of windows, a full-service commercial kitchen, internet and large-screen audio-visual equipment and accessible restrooms.

The program will be overseen by Lois Schram Osnow, a licensed clinical social worker. Prior to moving to Vermont, she was the co-founder and owner of LS Gerontology Seminars, where she instituted culture change projects in more than 25 long-term care facilities in addition to providing training to more than 75 long-term care facilities. Additional staff with relevant experience have been retained to assist.
