To the editor: Vote the Republican slate for Windsor

I am endorsing the Republican slate of candidates for Windsor County.  Why am I doing this with such a broad stroke?  It’s because I’ve seen endorsements for candidates from both parties and something clear stood out.

Not one Democrat endorsement mentioned taxes, cost of living or business creation.  Those should be the head of any candidate’s priorities in this economic system.

So if those are utmost on your mind like it should be for any Vermonter then the decision is more than obvious.

Will change necessarily mean success?  No but as a star hockey player famously said you miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.

Mr. Stern’s letter is highly informative, not so much about reality as it is about Mr. Stern’s inability to support anything he says with cogent facts or references. Of course, you have to get pretty far into his letter before you see an error. Hmm, well actually his first two “words”, “Keith Hernandez”, are wrong. The writer isn’t the famous baseball player. The writer’s name is Keith Hermiz. I don’t know Mr. Hermiz, although I used to play second base beside Keith Hernandez for the Mets. And if you believe that you can also believe the nonsense that Mr. Stern writes.

Keith Hernandez talks about republican gaslighting but then makes his reply about Trump and completely avoids talking about VT’s issues. Let me remind him and any others reading this that Trump isn’t on Vermont’s ballot and that brushing aside Vermont’s very real issues are a result of democrat control in the legislature.

  3. Keith Hermiz says:

This is some brazen gaslighting. Republican supporters have decided their only defense is to go on the offensive on affordability — something the Trump has declared “fake” or “a hoax” on many occasions — and blame the Democrats for it. Anyone with a passing familiarity with reality knows that this is nonsense.

In their October 19, 2024 issue the highly respected Economist magazine called the US economy “The envy of the world.” It wasn’t perfect, but Biden was guiding our country out of the post-COVID economic disaster that he had been handed. Less than 2 years into Trumps second term he has destroyed our economy with foolish, ill-informed, ego and grievance driven actions: a unnecessary, aimless war on Iran that has driven fuel prices to historic levels and impacted the cost of everything – everything — we consume, tariffs that serve only his need to be a world-class bully and possibly further line the pockets of his friends, and cuts to healthcare that are having a ripple effect on access and premium costs. The average costs for making America great again is estimated around $2,000 per household annually — unless you heat your home with oil because, buckle up, that’s likely an additional upcharge of $1,500 this winter.

Trump hasn’t done this alone. He has had the cooperation or complicity of every Republican elected official in this country, from Congress, State officials, and State congressional members as they have dodged accountability and sought to create pathways for the party to cheat its way out of a scorching defeat these midterms.

I,too, would absolutely endorse selecting a single party’s slate of candidates – vote Democratic. Do it with enthusiasm or hold your nose but send a message that the lying, incompetence, narcissism, and corruption is over.

Actually Deb those are buzzwords to them since we can see that not one of those three are improving at all, simply getting worse across the board. Tell me when have taxes gone down, anything become more affordable, and where are the jobs?
People see what we are up against this election?
Stop being fooled, just pay attention please. How many more young families are forced to leave before we change direction?

Literally every democrat is running on affordability, lowering taxes, creating business opportunities. It’s on websites, Facebook pages, promotional materials. Mentioned in every forum, town hall, meet and greet, etc. A simple google search will get you this information.
