To the editor: Charlton represents with common sense solutions

Tom Charlton is not running for a national office. He is not a torchbearer for President Trump nor is he one who would misrepresent himself by using the wrong color on his sign, as someone has accused.

Our issues are severe and they are the topics on which we should focus. Is Tom a Republican? Yes. A Republican who is seeking common sense solutions for housing, cost of living, access to health care, quality education, and last but not least, public safety.

More government will not be less expensive nor less restrictive. Tom knows this and has already shown who he is by already serving you in Montpelier. Tom advocated repeal of ACT 181.

He is seeking to ease the housing crisis as a member of the Housing Committee. He is a proponent of low cost, minimum government solutions: i.e. establishment of the Vermont Land Bank that would make abandoned properties available; bulk purchasing of modular housing with bulk savings being passed along to small local contractors; VHIP Program that makes five and 10 year forgivable loans available as matching funds for rehab or creation of rental units.

Tom has worked hard in eliminating non-compete clauses in traveling nurse and physician contracts so they can stay in Vermont if they so choose, thus potentially eliminating some of the high costs of traveling professionals. He is working hard to once again allow association health insurance formally available through groups like chambers of commerce.

Let’s have a common sense approach and re-elect Rep. Tom Charlton to Windsor-Windham District, someone who is knowledgeable, experienced and familiar with the landscape.
