Day of the Dead workshop in Proctorsville

Day of the Dead — Dia del los Muertos — is a two-day holiday, most often associated with Mexican communities. It is a time to reunite the living and the dead. Far from a dark and somber occasion, it is a celebration filled with good food, laughter, memories and fun.

The Cavendish Historical Society will be hosting a Dia de los Muertos celebration with a fun workshop to create items for the community ofrenda including: papel picado (paper cuts); paper flowers; ornaments; mask making; vase/candle holders; “sugar skulls” and more.

The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Cavendish Library, 573 Main. St. in Proctorsville.  It is free and open to the public. Donations appreciated. For more information: margocaulfield@icloud.com or 802-226-7807.
