To the editor: Hoser believes in fairness for all

If you want an honest, caring, qualified and responsible representative in the Vermont Legislature for Chester, Grafton, Athens and Windham, vote for Will Hoser on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Will has lived in Chester for decades. He raised his three children here and, for over 30 years, he has worked as a physician assistant in Chester and the surrounding communities. Will has deep personal knowledge of and experience with the serious health-care issues facing Vermont now, and he will be uniquely qualified to address these when the Legislature takes them up in its next session.
Will has also been a business owner, both in the medical field and as an owner of the former Heritage Deli and Bakery in Chester. Will Hoser knows this part of Vermont well, and he has the knowledge and skills to speak up for us in Montpelier.
At his core, Will believes in fairness for everyone, and he will work tirelessly to achieve that. He is seeking political office, but he believes that it should be used to serve humanity, not itself. People are his priority, and he will work hard to assure that all are treated fairly, including immigrants, LGBTQ+, the homeless, other marginalized groups, the poor, the disabled, veterans, homeowners, second-homeowners, and yes, even the wealthy. For Will, everyone deserves fairness, including affordable access to food, housing, and health care.
Safety is a top priority for Will: safety from persecution and harassment, safety from legal abuse, and physical safety at home, at work, and at school. That is a difference between Will Hoser and Tom Charlton. As a physician assistant, Will has treated many gunshot victims, and he knows that firearms are a leading cause of death among children in this country.
As a gun owner himself, Will supports legal, responsible gun ownership. Tom Charlton, however, sponsored a bill in the Vermont Legislature to exempt the sale of firearms at gun shows from the current Vermont law requiring criminal background checks for the commercial sale of all firearms. That would have put Vermonters at risk from criminals who could purchase guns at will at any gun show in Vermont, and there is nothing safe or responsible about that.
If Will is elected, he will not disappear into Montpelier. He will continue to attend the Athens chili cookoff, the Grafton hot dog night, the Windham firefighters’ fundraisers, the Chester-Andover Family Center Empty Bowls Dinner, and the myriad local festivals.
He will have office hours so that we can contact him, express our questions and concerns, and get his direct, personal response. Although Will is running as a Democrat, he will be his own man in Montpelier and will answer to his own conscience, not to any political boss. Please do us all a service and give Will Hoser your vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
