Rock Library offers Windham County Parent Resource Calendar

If you’re a parent, caregiver or someone who works with families and have looked for a single place where you could find programs and activities, the Rockingham Free Public Library, along with other Windham County service providers, announces the launch of the Windham County Parent Resource Calendar. It’s a single online location where you can find programs, events, classes and more for children and families in Windham County.

Looking for child- and family-oriented programs in the Windham area? Visit the new Parent Resource Calendar.

The resource is free, not only to families but also to all the participating organizations. It can be found online at rockinghamlibrary.org/parent/ and it can also be accessed by other websites including Greater Falls Connections, Springfield Building Bright Futures and Brattleboro Area Prevention Coalition.

Parents and caregivers can search the calendar by month, week or day to see what is available to families and children in Windham County. Use the “Category” menu to select programs vby topic. There also is an option to sign up for Twitter or email updates as new programs are added to the calendar. Content on the calendar will grow as more organizations add their programs and services.

“When service providers get together, one of the things that inevitably gets discussed is how we get information to parents and caregivers, avoid scheduling conflicts and help families locate resources they need. The idea for creating the calendar came from one of those discussions. The library was able to provide the technical know-how and the resources to make this happen,” says Youth Services Librarian Sam Maskell.

The calendar was developed by the library, WNESU Early Education Services, Springfield Building Bright Futures, WSESU Early Education Services (Parent-Child Center) and Southeastern VT Building Bright Futures.

On Friday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m.–noon, the library is holding a fair to celebrate the unveiling of the calendar. Windham County organizations that provide services to children and families are invited to become contributors by contacting Maskell at the Rockingham Free Public Library by phone at 802-463-4270 or by email at sam@rockinghamlibrary.org.
