To the editor: Independent Windsor Senate candidate Joe Izzo on his priorities
The Chester Telegraph | Oct 28, 2026 | Comments 1
My name is Joe Izzo, candidate for Vermont State Senate in Windsor County. With a background in international business and market technical analysis, as well as service as a USMC veteran, I am focused on practical solutions for our state while remaining mindful of Vermonters’ preferences regarding state policy.
If elected, my legislative priorities will include:
- Expanding Solar Power Generation: Capitalizing on solar energy to secure Vermont’s long-term energy needs.
- Addressing Air Traffic Impacts: Investigating and mitigating the effects of jet overflights on solar access and local wildlife.
- Tax Relief: Ending state taxes on senior Social Security and disabled veterans’ benefits.
- Cultural Preservation: Supporting the return of Vermont Life magazine.
I welcome the opportunity to discuss these initiatives further and serve Windsor County in Montpelier.
Best regards,
Joe Izzo

I’d like to ask Joe a few additional questions, but he doesn’t appear to have a campaign website or any social media presence. How can voters reach him to ask him questions? No one in the local Springfield groups on FB seem to know him or anything much about him. He’s not listed in online phone directories. What impacts does he hypothesize jets flying over have? Does he mean high altitude commercial jets, military jets on training missions, or local air traffic using Hartness Airport? Why only seniors and veterans for tax relief? Does he know disabled people on Social Security don’t need it? Are his stances on zoning to satisfy rural property owners going to compound the housing crisis by not creating the means to develop needed housing? What are his stances on civil liberties, gun rights/control, LGBTQ/women’s rights/equality? Are his clean energy stances going to lead to votes for bills that increase the cost of fossil fuels for Vermonters, like carbon taxes, gas taxes, etc.? What is his stance on the cost and outcomes of our education system? Does he consider himself conservative, moderate, or liberal? Will he vote based on his own values or will he poll/represent his constituents?
