Windsor County Ag Fair seeks farm, craft vendors

The Windsor County Agricultural Fair will be held on July 7 and 8, 2012, its board of directors announced. This year will mark the 39th year that the “Best Little Fair in Vermont” will be held at Barlow’s Field on historic Eureka Road in Springfield. Fair hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday,

The focus of this year’s fair is New Agriculture, which in reality is returning to the “old” ways of local food and small family farms. Farmers, dairies, craftspeople and tradespeople are invited to display in new exhibiting areas, including:

  • Farmers Market held on Sunday, July 8th, open to all farmers and crafters who want to show their wares.
  • Agricultural Exhibition Area featuring a wide variety of “How To” exhibits to showcase talent with carpentry, masonry walls, gardening, beekeeping, maple syrup grading, cheese-making, raising poultry and more.
  • Children’s Activity Tent where non-profits and other exhibitors are invited to provide hands-on activities and games for children.

Organizations and companies also are invited to enter a partnership with the fair through donations or in-kind contributions. Among benefits, sponsors could receive mentions in radio and print advertising, fair web content, press releases and onsite during the fair. The Windsor County Agricultural Fair has been held at the Billings Farm in Woodstock (1855-1932), the Hartland Fairgrounds, the Vermont State Farm in Windsor (1963-1970) and the Ascutney Ski area (1971-1972). Sponsorships allow the fair to continue to highlight Vermont’s agriculture in Windsor County.
