May Day Strong rally to be held in Chester

If you reside in the Chester area and prefer to live in a country in which families matter more than fortunes, where public schools are valued over private profits, where health-care is more important than hedge funds and where housing is needed to eradicate homelessness, meet by the gazebo on the Green in Chester on Main Street at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1.

More than 200 May Day Strong rallies will be taking place across the United States on that day.

The billionaires who bought the federal government and are trying to create a race to the bottom — on wages, on benefits and on dignity itself — want to eliminate labor rights, break our unions and silence immigrant voices.

This May Day is time to turn the page. This is the beginning of a new era, one in which working families lead, labor rights are protected, immigrants feel safe and no one is left behind.

  1. Robert Nied says:

The “you people” Ms. Mutschler is referring to are hundreds of thousands of people across the country who will gather on May 1st to denounce attacks by the Trump administration on workers rights, on labor unions and on the rule of law. Since the 1800’s May Day in the US has symbolized support for workers’ rights, starting with the push for an eight hour workday and later for safe working conditions, the end of child labor and equal pay for equal work. What will actually “drive tourists away” is the reckless economic policies of the Trump administration and the loss of jobs resulting from those policies and the irresponsible anti-worker actions of Trump’s union busting partner in crime, Elon Musk.

    ‘You people’?

  3. Arlene Mutschler says:

I have no comments. You all wont be satisfied till you just chase all the tourist away. WHAT are you complaining about now? I guess you dont want what little businesses there is in town to totally just leave? Or move to NH. I dont understand you people!
I really dont. You just like to rattle cages and make the folks jump to your will?
